I don’t know for sure, but i think you can use a special USB cord instead, it’ll just be slower.
the Ethernet port, looks exactly like a phone jack plug, except it is bigger and wider.
if you have the DSL modem, and cables already, check the manuel, and there is a Ethernet plug on the DSL modem, then the SAME type of plug sould be on the back of your pc.
to tell, simply take the Ethernet cable, and check the back of the pc for a plug that it fits snugly into.
if you found one, yep you have an Ethernet plug.
hope this helps
If your computer isn’t that old it should have an ethernet port on the back - but if it doesn’t that doesn’t mean that your computer will not support it there are Network Interface Cards (here’s a link) that can be purchased and installed in the computer. But if the computer is fairly new I suggest looking on the back around the usb you should see the ethernet port (looks like a bigger phone jack).
Are you sure you don’t have an ethernet port? Ethernet ports have been in use before high speed internet came around. If you don’t have one, they have USB ethernet adapters.
usually the ethernet connection is an inboard or part of the motherboard. to find out if it has one go to the control panel, click on the sytem icon, then the device manager and scroll down to see if you see an ethernet or network card listed. if you do, then it has one. if you dont, you can insert one into one of the card slots on the board. its a simple fix and ALL of them are interchangeable. if you need additional help just post another question on how to install it and ill happily provide more detail to you.
god bless and good luck.
